FAQ

What is Acroyoga and Partneracro?

Acroyoga and PartnerAcro are both physical practices that combine elements of acrobatics and yoga, often performed with a partner.

  • Components:
    • Base: The person who provides stability and supports the flyer.
    • Flyer: The person who is lifted and performs poses and transitions in the air.
    • Spotter: An additional person who ensures safety by providing support and guidance.
  • Partneracro emphasizes the acrobatic aspects more heavily, often involving more complex and dynamic movements than traditional Acroyoga.

    What should I wear?

For acroyoga and partneracro, it's important to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a wide range of movement and provides some level of support. Here are some suggestions:

    1. Athletic Wear: Choose clothing that allows for freedom of movement. This could include yoga pants, shorts or leggings, and a fitted top such as a t-shirt or tank top.

    2. Layers: Depending on the temperature and whether you're practicing indoors or outdoors, consider wearing layers that you can easily remove or add as needed.

    3. Avoid Very Loose Clothing: Very loose or baggy clothing can get in the way and may pose a safety risk during acroyoga practice, especially if it gets caught or tangled.

    4. Footwear: Many practitioners prefer to go barefoot during acroyoga and partneracro for better grip and stability. However, if you prefer to wear socks, choose ones with grippy soles or toe socks. Some people also wear lightweight, flexible shoes such as minimalist sneakers.

    5. Jewelry and Accessories: Remove any jewelry or accessories that could potentially cause injury or discomfort, such as rings, bracelets, or necklaces.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a water bottle, snack, sunscreen and a yoga mat in case the training is outside in the park (inside we have mats and crashmats). Snacks to share are always a hit too!

Do I need experience for the jams?

No prior experience is required to participate in an acro jam, but having some familiarity with acroyoga basics or partner acrobatics can be helpful. Acro jams are open to practitioners of all levels, from beginners to more advanced practitioners.

Here's what you can expect at an acro jam:

    1. Community Atmosphere: Acro jams are usually friendly and welcoming environments where people come together to practice, share skills, and learn from one another.

    2. Skill Sharing: More experienced practitioners are often willing to offer guidance, tips, and assistance to beginners who are just starting out.

    3. Safety First: Safety is always a priority in acroyoga and partneracro, so learning how to spot is key to help ensure that everyone is practicing safely.

    4. Variety of Levels: Acro jams typically attract practitioners with a range of skill levels, so you'll likely find people to partner with who are at a similar level as you.

    5. Learning Opportunities: Acro jams can be great opportunities to learn new skills, refine techniques, and try out more advanced moves with the support of the community.

If you're new to acroyoga or partner acrobatics, it's a good idea to come with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a respectful attitude towards your fellow practitioners. Don't be afraid to ask questions, seek guidance, and take your time to explore and experiment with different poses and transitions.

    Do I need a partner?

You can come solo or with friends. You'll find plenty of partners to practice with. Acro is all about connection and making new friends!

    Is there an age limit?

The jams are intended for adults of all ages, but children are welcome to attend with their caregivers.

    How much does it cost?

Sunday jams in the park are free of charge. For jams indoors there is a small fee to cover the hall costs.

    What if it rains?

Keep an eye on our stories for weather updates. September-May, we have an indoor spot. June-August, we need to cancel or reschedule if the weather doesn't cooperate.

What languages do you speak at acro jams?

It depends on the people present. Usually, we speak Flemish and/or English. The most important thing is that you and your training partner can communicate.

    Do you organize classes?

Various community members and the circus school organize classes, check the overview here and on our instagram.
